The past few years we've spent our 4th celebrations in Show Low, this year was no exception. I took a half day on Wednesday so we can travel at a decent time. Once we arrived Shawn and I took advantage of having someone to watch over the girls and we headed to dinner. Due to the proximity we chose Native. It was okay. We decided to take turns with breakfast and dinner meals again. We were in charge of breakfast on the 4th. I forgot my cameras {sad pouty face} these are all from my iphone.
I decided on baked french toast. It was so so. I think if I make this meal again I will try a different recipe.
After breakfast we headed to the parade, a first for us. The girls absolutely LOVED it. So did we! The closest I came to a parade was the Macy's Day Parade on Thanksgiving through the t.v. Show Low parade is so different but amazing and thoroughly entertaining. I love the small town feel being there.
We had such a great time and hope to make it a tradition.
we ended the day with homemade strawberry ice cream.
and sparklers
Friday Shawn and I were in charge of dinner. We made a low country boil. Not sure if everyone was just really hungry but it seemed to be a hit. I liked it and will make it again.
We did a lot of relaxing and enjoying the weather and scenery.
Saturday we headed to Charlie Clarks for an arts festival. The best arts festival I had ever been to. It was a great time. The girls got a cute necklace and rings from Nana and Papa. We enjoyed some cold beverages and danced to the band.
The three of us got a little wet on the way back. For just a moment it even hailed. It was actually a lot of fun and brought out the kid in us.
Our trip was a great one. I had a lot of "this is what life is about moments"
